FEC Welcomes New Academy Member – Prof. Dr. Nadia Pinardi

Prof. Dr. Nadia Pinardi

Prof. Dr. Nadia Pinardi has recently joined the Future Earth Coasts Academy as a new member. Her expertise and contributions will significantly enhance collaborations between FEC and the Decade Collaborative Centre for Coastal Resilience (DCC-CR), thus advancing dissemination and communication efforts to foster fruitful outcomes.

 


Dr. Nadia Pinardi obtained her Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Harvard University and currently holds the position of full professor of Oceanography at the University of Bologna. Her research interests span a broad spectrum, encompassing ocean numerical modeling and predictions, data assimilation, numerical modeling of marine physical-biological interactions, and the behavior of pollutants at sea. A significant accomplishment in her career is the conceptual design and successful implementation of ocean forecasting systems deployed across various regions of the world ocean.

In addition to her role as a Member of the European Academy of Sciences, Prof. Nadia Pinardi also serves as a Member of the Scientific Council of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe. She chairs the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development Program “CoastPredict” and acts as the director of the UN DCC-CR hosted by the University of Bologna.
